Welcome to Ashley English Language Institute. Our English courses are designed for students to improve their all-round English language skills for everyday use, study, work or social purposes. Ashley’s English course is designed over four levels, from an elementary level through to the upper intermediate level. Each level has a strong focus on core skills such as listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Through General English you can develop core English language skills, studying reading, writing, speaking and listening and then applying what you have learnt in practical, interactive sessions to suit your level. This course is perfect for students from Elementary to upper Intermediate levels.
Why Study General English?
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
English for Academic Purpose prepares students for the English language and academic skills demands of University degree courses or VET Certificate and Diploma courses. It includes academic language, academic written genres appropriate for the student’s future course, academic conventions such as avoidance of plagiarism, extensive reading skills, lecture listening/note-taking, and critical thinking amongst other relevant skills.
AELI EAP Course Structure
AELI’s EAP course consists of four levels (EAP 1, EAP 2, EAP 3, and EAP 4), each of which comprises 12 weeks of study at 20 classroom hours per week. Each level is divided into three modules of four weeks each; students may enter the level at the start of any of these modules and exit at the end of any, depending on their needs.
Students are advised to allow at least 15 hours per week to complete homework, project, review, and self-access activities in addition to the scheduled 20 face-to-face classroom hours per week. In other words, the course requires a full-time study commitment in line with the requirements of student visas.
Classes will run continuously except during college shutdowns which may occur from time to time, usually during the Christmas/New Year period; these will be determined well in advance. The college will also be closed during the public holidays where they fall on a weekday, as determined by the state government.
