Sydney, Australia’s largest city, is located on the East coast of Australia in the state of NSW.

Widely known for its spectacular icons the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge it’s recognised as one of the world’s great cities and is consistently ranked in the Top 10 most liveable cities in the World for quality of living.

With a population of 5 million people, Sydney is Australia’s international gateway for business and tourism.

Almost 30% of Sydney’s residents were born overseas. Sydney is home to migrant communities from all over Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America.

This diverse mix of cultures has made Sydney known as a centre for creativity and culture.

There’s lots to see and do. Sydney is known for the beautiful Sydney Harbour and waterways that you can catch a ferry and explore tucked away coves and beaches.

You can even climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge and enjoy panoramic views of the city and Sydney’s harbour and coastline.

Or you can take a break and relax on one of the popular beaches or surf the waves at Manly Beach, not far from the city by ferry.

There’s plenty of cafes and restaurants to eat out at and excellent shopping, entertainment, sporting venues, fresh food markets and cultural centres to explore.

Sydney lies in a temperate zone which means the climate is quite moderate, known as sub- tropical or free from extreme heat and cold. The annual average temperature is between 12°C and 21°C. 

On the study front, there are plenty of options for you to choose from. Sydney is currently ranked one of the world’s top five student cities with access to some of the best educational opportunities in the world.

Sydney is home to world class Universities, Vocational education and training institutions, English language colleges as well as Government and private schools.

As a result, the diversity of Sydney’s education sector has resulted in preparing leaders across a range of fields from medicine and science to arts and humanities. 

Whether you’re planning on studying an academic program or on a Tourist or Working Holiday visa you will most likely need to improve your English.

There are many English language Colleges to choose from, most located in the city centre.

They offer a range of different courses from General English to Academic English plus English test preparation that will prepare you for your academic studies.

You can choose to study during the day, night classes or intensive English depending on your circumstances.

During your study break you can explore the great sights outside of Sydney in the regions of NSW. From the South Coast to the North Coast beach attractions to the Hunter Valley with rolling hills and renowned wineries.

Or experience the beauty of the Blue Mountains and famous rock formation known as the Three Sisters.

There’s also so many opportunities if you’d like to work part time while you study. You can work in retail or hospitality at the many cafes and restaurants all over Sydney.
