Arts Professionals (ANZSCO 211) are individuals who communicate ideas, impressions, and facts through a variety of artistic mediums in order to achieve specific effects. They possess the ability to interpret compositions such as musical scores and scripts for performance.

Indicative Skill Level:

Most occupations within the Arts Professionals category require a certain level of skill, which can be acquired through the qualifications and experience outlined below.

In Australia:

  • An AQF Bachelor's degree or higher qualification is typically required. However, at least five years of relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
  • An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma, or a minimum of three years of relevant experience is also accepted (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).

In New Zealand:

  • A NZQF Bachelor's degree or higher qualification is generally required. However, similar to Australia, at least five years of relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
  • A NZQF Diploma, or a minimum of three years of relevant experience, is also accepted (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).

In certain cases, additional relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Tasks Include:

  • Conceiving and developing ideas, styles, characters, emotions, and themes, and translating them through artistic presentations.
  • Reading scripts and conducting research to gain a deeper understanding of parts, themes, and characterizations.
  • Composing music and dance routines, as well as creating visual forms such as paintings, pictures, and sculptures.
  • Learning lines, parts, cues, dance routines, and music.
  • Performing music, dances, dramatic roles, and other parts to entertain audiences.
  • Transporting and setting up photographic equipment, and capturing photographs.
